03 Apr Natural Burial – A Tranquil Space, a Beautiful Place
A NATURAL BURIAL EXPERIENCE
As a nature lover and Celebrant, I am never happier than when I am asked to conduct a Celebration of Life at Higher Ground Meadow Natural Burial Ground in Corscombe, Dorset.
Gentle rolling fields, woodlands and a converted barn are just part of its charm. The converted barn has a beautiful log burner and stunning views all the way across to the Glastonbury Tor. These things make the award-winning Higher Ground Meadow Natural Burial Ground a wonder to behold.
THE OWNERS
The Owner, Jo Vassie and her son Tom have, over the last ten years, turned Higher Ground Meadow into a peaceful and tranquil final resting-place. So tranquil that you can spend time with your loved ones in quiet contemplation, totally at one with nature.
ALTERNATIVE NATURAL BURIAL
The Natural Burial Ground is adding a round barrow which is a space for placing the ashes of loved ones. Look out for the notification of its’ opening because you won’t be sorry!

AT ONE WITH NATURE
Walking down to a graveside, you realise how beautiful Higher Ground Meadow is and how tranquil and peaceful too. The cowslips, daisies and a whole host of other beautiful flowers take your breath away and there is also evidence of rabbits, deer and sheep too.
THE NATURAL BURIAL EXPERIENCE
As a Celebrant, I have conducted many Celebrations of Life at Higher Ground Meadow and each time I have had the privilege of taking the service in the beautifully converted barn. In winter the log burner is welcoming. In summer, the sun shines through the windows. You can then appreciate the panoramic views that just go on forever and as a result, you can’t help but feel healed.

If you ever get a chance to visit, I would urge you to do it. If you plan on being buried there then make Blossom Ceremonies THE CELEBRANT to take the service because you won’t be disappointed.

A Natural End
Don’t lay me in some gloomy churchyard shaded by a wall
Where the dust of ancient bones has spread a dryness over all,
Lay me over leafy loam where, sheltered from the cold
Little seeds investigate and tender leaves unfold.
There kindly and affectionately, plant a native tree
To grow resplendent upon this earth and hold some part of me.
The roots will not disturb me as they wend their peaceful way
To build the fine and bountiful, from closure and decay.
To seek their small requirements so that when their work is done
I’ll be tall and standing strongly in the beauty of the sun.

My husband and myself have already booked and paid for our burial plots here. Beautiful and tranquil position run and managed by lovely, understanding people.
It truly is very beautiful there xx
